Dawn of the Planet of the Apes International Trailer: Fresh Footage!

The latest Dawn of the Planet of the Apes international trailer gives us more footage that has never before been seen! Among it, are scenes featuring the character played by Gary Oldman. To say he does not like these apes is one gross understatement!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is one of our must-see movies of summer and that largely has to do with the over 25 minutes of footage we’ve seen of the haunting and surprisingly touching film. More on that in the slideshow below!

Oldman is joined in the human cast by Keri Russell and Jason Clarke, who play a married couple who believe that the apes can live side-by-side with humans. There are a couple of new scenes in the above trailer that tease that fact too!

Look for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes July 11 which also features the return of Andy Serkis as Caesar. And there’s one more treat in the above international trailer… Caesar watching a video featuring the first film’s star, James Franco!

It Takes Place 10 Years After Rise

The film takes place 10 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. And a lot has happened to say the least.

Edge of Tomorrow Synopsis:

Oscar nominee Tom Cruise (the Mission: Impossible films, Collateral, Jerry Maguire) and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, The Adjustment Bureau) star in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow, under the direction of Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith).

The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Liman is directing Edge of Tomorrow from a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Jez Butterworth & John-Henry Butterworth, based on the novel entitled All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Erwin Stoff produces, along with Tom Lassally, Jeffrey Silver, Gregory Jacobs and Jason Hoffs. The executive producers are Doug Liman, David Bartis, Joby Harold, Hidemi Fukuhara and Bruce Berman, with Tim Lewis and Kim Winther serving as co-producers.

17 Worst Movie Betrayals: You Dirty Rat!

When a writer sits down to pen a script, adding a betrayal to the drama is a sure-fire way to amp up the emotional explosiveness. When a movie features a betrayal, and it’s done right, it can be a jaw-dropping and powerful experience for the audience.

Some movies have been awarded Academy Awards for Best Picture for their ability to move us immensely due to onscreen treachery. Watch Braveheart online for evidence of the fact that having a turncoat equals Oscar gold!

Others become iconic with their double-cross providing the moment in which the movie turns towards its thrilling climax.

Just watch The Matrix online and there is Cypher doing his dirty work that almost costs our rebels their lives. And let us not forget what Saruman did when you watch The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring online.

We found 17 of the best (worst) movie betrayals… click through and see who made our list of favorite double-crosses!

Robert the Bruce is our betrayer and his selling out of Braveheart (Mel Gibson) leads to his death and further complicates any chance Scotland has for, as Braveheart puts it, “our freeeeeeedom!”

Weekend Movie Preview: May 30, 2014

The last weekend movie preview for May closes out the month with two films that could not be more polar opposites! Angelina Jolie channels one of Disney’s most iconic villains in the live action Maleficent — which tells the origins story of the evildoer from Sleeping Beauty.

Then, Seth MacFarlane returns to the big screen after the huge success he had with Ted with a Western comedy, A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Let’s break it down!

Maleficent: This is not your grandmother’s Sleeping Beauty villain! Jolie portrays Maleficent as a woman who was scorned and out for revenge, even if it is misplaced. When she casts that curse on Princess Aurora, as she gets to know the young woman, she feels regret and dare we say it… maternal feelings!

Check out our Maleficent review for more on this aspect of the story. The acting from all involved, especially Jolie, Sharlto Copley and Elle Fanning, is top notch. And although it plays with the classic fairy tale, we still quite enjoyed the result.

A Million Ways to Die in the West: MacFarlane heads out west, and yes, hilarity ensues. But, unlike his previous effort, this is not hilarious from beginning to end. As our A Million Ways to Die in the West review points out, this is a comedy-Western and the latter part of that description truly rules the third act. MacFarlane’s timid farmer must find his inner strength to face off against a classic Western villain (played astonishingly by Liam Neeson).

Feel like staying in this weekend? Several films have landed on digital download that you can check out when you watch Endless Love onlinewatch How to Train Your Dragon online in its collector’s edition format, and Kevin Costner returns to action when you watch 3 Days to Kill online.
